Third Day Log Using VegaCream

I still think this is the best custom ROM for advent vega, POV mobii, or pad like those. On my third day using it, hehe, i have to re-flash the tablet twice, because it won't boot. I still keep trying to figure out, why the tablet went to the stage. I just power-off  the tablet normally, but the next time I power on, it only give it's screen back-light, and no more. The tablet stays there for 30 minute. I've tried to put the tablet into recovery CWM but fail to do so. The computer would not recognize the tablet. The adb shell shows no device were connected.
First re-flash
I will have to re-flash my tablet, to able to use it again. That's the only workaround I know. But, this time, I choose VegaICS Beta1 as my base. After nvflash VegaICS Beta1, I install VegaCream from CWM. A few hours using the tablet, installing application I regularly use, some voluntary reboot and power off, then power on again, then the tablet refuse to boot. It only gave me the backlight. I sat down, try to remember the last act I've done before the tablet's death, and I remember that the Wi-Fi was left on when I power off the tablet. I re-flash my tablet for the second time!

Second Try
I still with VegaCream until now. The caution is to turn off the Wi-Fi before I power off the tablet. May be that's the cause, maybe another, I don't know. But the tablet keep booting everytime I turn the power on, until now.

Maybe this is just a bug scanno has missed but can not confirm that. I will just do my turn off before turn off, to keep the tablet boot when I need it. If something else happen, making the tablet unbootable again. I'll write another post.

Thank you for reading!

VegaCream Beta2 All is Working

I have try this ROM by scanno...
I must say, this ROM is the best ROM available. I've done some minor test, for the camera, gps, sound, video, bluetooth, internal 3G.. all are working great. The Wi-Fi is working. No touchscreen issue.
I test the internal GPS using endomondo, foursquare, path and google maps -- it's working. The GPS is able to locate the satellite.
Music plays fine. Video is a little slow for HD format 720p experiencing stuttering playback. But, lower bitrate plays great!
All and all this ROM is the best uptodate ROM I've ever use. I like it very very much. Thanks to scanno and people that make this ROM happen :)

VegaICS will never Out of it's Beta status -- Thread Closed

Disappointment is what I feel when I go to VegaICS thread at tabletROM and I saw [Discontinued] on the thread title. I, maybe we all, vega owners, have put a big hope on this ROM, but what can we do???. The developer of this ROM has decided to end his effort.
If only I have the knowledge and resource to develope one ROM, I'll do that. But, neither skill nor the computer resources I have can never meet the requirement to do so. That's just the way it work, when it comes to community effort, we are not in the position of demanding something from the dev, we just hope. And if the dev have time and care about people that puts hope on them, we can expect something out of it. But, in reality, they have real world work to do, they have family and responsibility.
With all the disappointment, I can say enough to thanks the brilliant effort of cass and the gang has put on the ROM development. Thank you very much!
Maybe there will be new hope from VegaCream by scanno. As cass said in his last post on vegaICS thread, we are in scanno's good hand. Let's just hope hope hope so!

Next VegaICS will be Android 4.0.4 -- or Will it be VegaICE

VegaICS 4.0.4 by Cass
Ok, finally some explanation from VegaICS dev, Cass. On his latest post, at tabletroms, he mention that VegaICS now boot using Android 4.0.4.
That's ICS latest pull from AOSP.
Cass, on his tweet also said, currently he doesn't have time for "VegaICE" ... I can not tell if this is a typo or he just leak the name for the next VegaICS release.
Now, we know why it take so long to get the next release. But, I think there will be new release "in the near future". We can also tell from the kernel thread, that now VegaICS have a number of name working on it, say ejtagle, areo, scanno, daedric1383, brucelee666. More head, better result. They are very talented people, have experience working on large project. I think, it will required just a bit of their brain effort to make this community ROM a perfect one. We wait :)

Dark Knight ROM -- Android IceCream Sandwich 4.0.4 for Samsung Galaxy S I1900

Nasif619 at xda offer android 4.0.4 for your galaxy s I1900. This ROM is fast and stable. The dev said that this ROM is a fully ported from galaxy Nexus, with modification and improvement. The dev is taking a donation. If you are galaxy S user, you can go there if you like and donate. This way, the dev will be able to correct more, fix more for this great ROM.
There is, of course, some issue on this ROM, some wifi and booting problem, but the forum will give you enough information on how to workaround these problem, and the developer itself has stated in his first post of the thread, he will fix everything, so eventually everything will be fixed. This is a big promise a think, but also a good commit.
You can always hope from someone who committed to what he was doing. The new android 4.0.4 IceCream offer more slick and beautiful improvement than the earlier update. But, take a note of waning, this is a single person shoot, not a group effort. Although there is a chance that this ROM will be a great lesser bug ROM, it will be along time it will take. If you don't like to risk your phone's data and application. Do not try this. If you know what you want and know how to do it safe, the this ROM is for you.

VegaICS Beta 1 Touch Screen Patch

Tabletroms member, scanno has posted about a day ago about CWM update for VegaICS Beta1. This update will address the touchscreen issue and powerbutton fix. As said in the post, this update contain new boot image with touchscreen driver compiled to the new kernel. The new kernel were build by some folk from modaco, brucele666.
We have watch the forum for a positif response to this patch. I can not test this patch yet, because my tablet is not with me right now, but some positif feedback from the forum, and the talk at modaco, i think this patch worth a try. If you have problem, you can always ask in the forum, that way you'll help to in the development process.
